How it works
We simulate both paths month-by-month with your fixed payment, using the promo rate for the promo period and the post-promo rate after.
Frequently asked questions
Are balance transfers worth it?
Often yes — but only if you can pay off the bulk during the 0% promo. Otherwise the post-promo APR can erase your savings.
Does the transfer fee matter?
A lot. A 3% fee on a $10,000 transfer is $300 — make sure interest savings exceed that.
Will it hurt my credit?
Short-term yes (hard inquiry, new account), but lower utilization usually helps within a few months.
Can I transfer the whole balance?
Limited by the new card's credit line and the issuer's transfer cap (often 90% of the limit).
Can I use the new card to make purchases too?
Bad idea — purchases often don't get the promo rate and complicate payoff math.
